Miranda has been certified in and teaching the art of yoga since 2002, emphasizing in vinyasa flow and ashtanga disciplines. She is a prime example of how a consistent and dedicated practice will help one to successfully cope and manage anxiety. Yoga is a journey into learning how to respectfully slow down, honor oneself, and find inner peace.
Miranda became certified in 2007 to teach children’s yoga and meditation through Karma Kids Yoga in NYC. As a Montessori and Social-Emotional Learning educator for ten years, she weaves these contemplative practices throughout her teaching philosophy. Luckily, yoga can start in the womb. While pregnant with her first child in 2009, she received her pre-natal yoga certification through Holy Cow Yoga Center in Charleston, SC.
As a master herbalist, master naturalist, and shamanic reiki master she is able to find connections within the environment for healing, meanwhile concocting remedies for Punkee Herbals, her herbal salve and balm business, and writing for The Indigo Teacher, her blog on progressive-contemplative education.
Miranda’s style of teaching yoga is based on the mental, spiritual, and physical aspects, while incorporating pranayama and vigorous asanas into a flow. For children, she integrates fun yogic principles based on building inner and outer peace, concentration, and self-confidence. Believing that we are all still embryos to this ancient and spiritual practice, her love for yoga and ambition to continuously learn more is reflected in her classes and daily life.
Miranda’s heart is full with her husband and two young daughters. You can often find them combing the beach, surfing the waves, and exploring the woods. If she’s not doing that, then she’s probably reading fantasy novel
