Ashtanga yoga ( eight limbs  yoga) is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) who was taught by Krishnamacharya. This method of yoga involves  synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of asanas (postures)—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body,  and calm mind.

“Master your breath, let the self be in bliss, contemplate on the sublime within you.” ~ T. Krishnamacharya

Ashtanga Primary Series  - LEVEL  ♨♨ & ♨♨♨ ~   The primary series is referred to as Yoga Chikitsa or Yoga Therapy. This is a  series of standing, seated and closing sequences which utilizes ujjayi breath, bandhas (energy locks) and drishti  to  increase muscular strength, flexibility, concentration and to deepen one’s connection with the Divine. The asanas in the primary series are designed to realign the spine, detoxify the body, and build strength, flexibility and stamina. Ashtanga is a challenging practice, but recognizes that every body is unique. Introductory series attendance is highly recommended to attend Primary series LED class.

At One Yoga Sanctuary, we have a very small self practice group. If you want to join our self practice Mysore style group, contact us for times and fees.
